Be True To Yourself

“Beware of false knowledge, it is more dangerous than ignorance.”– George Bernard Shaw, playwright

“What a man thinks either builds up his character or pulls it down.“- Henry Thomas Hamblin

“You are the architect of your own life: it is yours to make or to mar. By the power of thoughts you are building; are you building aright?”– Henry Thomas Hamblin

Be honest with yourself. If you are not true to yourself, you will find it hard to pursue your purpose in life. And if you are not pursuing your purpose in life, you are pursuing someone else’s dreams. Cynthia Ozick said, “To want to be what one can be is purpose in life.”

To be true to yourself, make sure your dreams are yours. You need a clear vision, a clear goal, a definite chase of your purpose. But if you are not true to yourself, you cannot pursue your purpose.

For example, if you are good at something, and you are blindly pursuing something that you are not good at, you are not being honest with yourself. You are deceiving yourself. You are redirecting yourself to a different direction. A direction that will never lead you to your final destination. It will lead you to a land of unhappiness.

“It takes more effort to avoid the truth than it takes to face it.”- Robert J. Braathe

No matter where you are, always be true to yourself. Don’t let people tell you something different. You are who you are for a reason. Your reasons for being here are what you should pursue. If you pursue your WHY with all your power, you will achieve your dreams. But if you are not honest with yourself, if you keep telling yourself lies, if you keep doing the wrong things, if you keep pretending that everything is okay with you, you will never achieve your purpose in life. Learn how to face reality. Don’t ignore reality. If you do, it will come after you.

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.”- Kierkegaard

Meeting Your True Self

“The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself.”- Michel de Montaigne

Aristotle said, “knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”

Do you know yourself? Do you know what you want? Do you know who you really are?

It is important to connect with your true self. Many people are just wandering around without a clear understanding of who they really are. If you don’t meet your true self, if you don’t know who you are, if you don’t know what you want, how are you going to find greatness in life?

Let us face it. If you don’t know who you really are, it is going to be a big challenge to get anything of value done in your life. One of the reasons you exist is to get things done, is to live a fulfilled life, is to grow, is to expand. But if you don’t know what you want and who you are, how are you going to pursue greatness?

What does it mean to meet your true self?

Knowing and meeting your true self is important if you are to succeed in life. Your true self is your inner self. Your true self is your real self. This is the self you want to nurture if you are to succeed.

When you connect with your true self, life becomes easier to navigate. When you meet your true self, choices become easier to make. When you meet your true self, it becomes clear what you really want out of life. When you meet your true self, you start believe in yourself, you become fearless, you start to trust yourself more than before, and you are ready to take risks.

Your true self is who you are. Don’t try to be someone you are not. It is better to fail being yourself than to succeed being another person. Your life is yours, so enjoy it.

6 Important Ways To Become The Person You Want To be

One can’t be successful without first knowing who one is. Life will be much more easier for you if you know who you are, what you want, where you are going, and how to get there. You cannot achieve anything of value if you are not functioning at your highest level. You cannot achieve anything great if you are just passing time. If you pass time, time will pass you.

If you want to become the person that you have always wanted to be, you MUST master yourself. You must master your life. Here are some additional steps to take if you are to become who you want to be:

Be Yourself.

“Remember to always be yourself. Unless you suck.”– Joss Whedon, American producer

The first thing to do if you want to become who you want to be is to be yourself. Yourself, but nothing else. If you are not yourself, who are you? To be yourself, you MUST believe in yourself, trust yourself, love yourself, accept yourself, think for yourself, and celebrate yourself. Don’t compete with others; cooperate with others. If even you want to compete, let it be against yourself. Remember to always be yourself if you want to succeed.

Always prepare.

“Dig your well before you’re thirsty.“- Harvey Mackay

There is power in preparation. Always prepare yourself to succeed. Don’t underestimate anything. Always prepare yourself to seize anything opportunity. Don’t wait for people to tell you what to do. Do it before they even have the chance to tell you anything. The secret to success is preparation, preparation, preparation.

Don’t Resist Change.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them- that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally toward in whatever way they like.”- Lao Tzu

Change is important to your growth and development. Don’t resist change. Allow things to flow. Allow things to happen the way it ought to be, not the way you want it to be. Change is a way to learn, to understand yourself, to know others, to think in different ways, to get out of comfort zone. If you don’t understand why change is been proposed, don’t resist it. Find a way to understand why the change is been proposed. Change is not funny, so is status quo. If you want your life to change, embrace change. Don’t resist it. In the words of JIm Rohn, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”

Discipline Yourself.

“It is the small disciplines that lead to great accomplishments.”- Jim Rohn

There is no success without discipline. If you want to become who you want to be, you must discipline yourself. Do the things that are important to you. Don’t spend your time on things that are not getting you any closer to your dreams. For example, if you have an important project to work on, instead of watching the TV, spend time on your project. You can watch your TV later. In other words, according Stephen Covey, “Do the first thing first.” Focus on what will make you a better, smarter person.

Take Risks.

“If you have everything under control, you are not moving fast enough.”– Mario Andretti, Race Car Driver

If you have everything under control in your life, it means you are not moving fast enough. It means you are not taking calculated risks. It means you are playing it too safe. It is okay to play it safe, but know when to say, ‘enough is enough.’ If you want to take risks, make sure that the risks are worth taking. Make sure they are going to help you become a better person. Don’t take risks because people pressured you to do so. Take risks because you know is the right thing to do. Remember to look before you jump. Don’t jump before you look.

Failure is Inevitable.

“Failure is inevitable, make it a strength.”- J.K. Rowling

Failure is a part of life. It is a part of the game of life. If you want to move forward, if you want to learn, if you want to be a better person, you MUST embrace failure. It is okay to failure, but don’t make it a habit. If you fail at something, don’t beat yourself up. Listen to yourself. Learn from failure, and move on. Michael Jordan said, “I can accept failure, everyone fail at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” Failure is not a crime, not trying is. If you want to be better than you are today, don’t let the fear of failure stops you from pursuing your purpose in life.
