“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”– George Bernard Shaw
Life is not about finding yourself. Life is about creating your real self. You should spend your time developing yourself, not trying to find who you are. We are not perfect. And we will never be perfect. If you are looking for perfection, you still have a long way to go.
Life is about doing better every day. Life is not about living other people’s dreams. It is about growing yourself, moving yourself forward.
You create yourself by living for yourself, by thinking for yourself, by loving yourself, by asking the right questions, by challenging yourself, by believing in yourself, by being honest with yourself and others.
When you engage in the game of finding yourself, you will miss your real self. You create yourself by embracing who you are, not who you are trying to be. Be happy with who you are, and you will enjoy your life.
Who are you friends? Who are the people you spend your time with? Are they lifting you up or putting you down? Are they growing or dying? Are they positive or negative people?
It is your choice. It is up to you to decide how you want to spend your time. Remember, time is gold. Time is everything in life. If you waste your time, you waste your life.
We don’t just need people around us; we need great people around us. You need great people in your life. People who will help you succeed in life. People who will lift you up when you are down. People who will bring light into your life. People who will never hurt you. People who are doing productive and great things with their lives. You need them. They will challenge you to be better than you are today. They will encourage you to do the impossible. They will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.
Nadia Comaneci said, “I believe that you should gravitate to people who are doing productive and positive things with their lives.” If you want to grow, if you want to be a champion, this is a good advice for you. You cannot be a winner if you keep associating yourself with losers.
When you associate yourself with people who are doing great things with their lives, before long, you will start to do great things. You will start to think and work like them. Find a person who is doing well in life, and research what they did, and how they did it. Make it a habit of listening to great people, people who have done great things with their lives. Before long, you will start to think and act like them.
If you do what other successful people are doing, you will be successful.
Success is a process. It is not a final stop. If you want to really be successful, you must do the right things. Successful people are successful because they do what others are not willing to do, and they don’t do what others do.
“You can do anything if you believe you can do it. You can’t do anything if you believe you can’t do anything.”
If you want more beautiful things in life, do
things in beautiful ways. You must give beautiful things to people, and people
will give beautiful things back to you.
Here are six things that successful people DON’T do:
don’t waste time.
Successful people don’t waste their time. They value their time. They do the right and the most important things first. They don’t waste their time living in the past. They don’t waste their time living in the future. They waste their time living in the moment.
“All that really belongs to us is time; even he who has nothing else has that.”– Baltasar Gracian
don’t try to change what they cannot change.
Successful people know what they can change, and
they change it. Successful people know what they cannot change, and they don’t
even try to change it. If you try to change what you cannot change, you are
just wasting your time.
“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it we die, lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.”-Natalie Goldberg, zen practitioner
don’t fear success.
Successful people don’t fear success. They embrace
it. They welcome it. They prepare for it. They are successful in their minds
before they meet success. They know that success comes with discipline, with
responsibility, with focus, and with integrity. They believe in themselves that
they can succeed.
“Your chances of success in any undertaking can always be measured by your belief in yourself.”– Robert Collier
don’t fear failure.
Successful people don’t fear failure. They embrace
failure. They know that failure is part of the game of life. When they fail at
something, they just keep moving. They don’t blame anyone for their mistakes.
They take responsibility for what happened to them.
“I have not failed I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”– Thomas Edison
don’t doubt themselves.
Successful people don’t doubt themselves. They
believe they can do anything. They believe that nothing is impossible in life.
They don’t doubt themselves. Successful people are scared, but they don’t allow
fear to stop them from achieving their dreams.
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own power you cannot be successful or happy.”- Norman Vincent Pearle
don’t search for happiness.
Successful people don’t search for happiness. They give happiness. They know that when you give happiness to people, you will be happy. For that reason, they always try to make people happy. If you want to be happy, make people happy. Add happiness to people’s lives, and they will add happiness to your life.
“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.”- Albert Camus
One can’t be successful without first knowing who one is. Life will be much more easier for you if you know who you are, what you want, where you are going, and how to get there. You cannot achieve anything of value if you are not functioning at your highest level. You cannot achieve anything great if you are just passing time. If you pass time, time will pass you.
If you want to become the person that you have always wanted to be, you MUST master yourself. You must master your life. Here are some additional steps to take if you are to become who you want to be:
“Remember to always be yourself. Unless you suck.”– Joss Whedon, American producer
The first thing to do if you want to become who you want to be is to be yourself. Yourself, but nothing else. If you are not yourself, who are you? To be yourself, you MUST believe in yourself, trust yourself, love yourself, accept yourself, think for yourself, and celebrate yourself. Don’t compete with others; cooperate with others. If even you want to compete, let it be against yourself. Remember to always be yourself if you want to succeed.
“Dig your well before you’re thirsty.“- Harvey Mackay
There is power in preparation. Always prepare yourself to succeed. Don’t underestimate anything. Always prepare yourself to seize anything opportunity. Don’t wait for people to tell you what to do. Do it before they even have the chance to tell you anything. The secret to success is preparation, preparation, preparation.
Don’t Resist Change.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them- that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally toward in whatever way they like.”- Lao Tzu
Change is important to your growth and development. Don’t resist change. Allow things to flow. Allow things to happen the way it ought to be, not the way you want it to be. Change is a way to learn, to understand yourself, to know others, to think in different ways, to get out of comfort zone. If you don’t understand why change is been proposed, don’t resist it. Find a way to understand why the change is been proposed. Change is not funny, so is status quo. If you want your life to change, embrace change. Don’t resist it. In the words of JIm Rohn, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
“It is the small disciplines that lead to great accomplishments.”- Jim Rohn
There is no success without discipline. If you want to become who you want to be, you must discipline yourself. Do the things that are important to you. Don’t spend your time on things that are not getting you any closer to your dreams. For example, if you have an important project to work on, instead of watching the TV, spend time on your project. You can watch your TV later. In other words, according Stephen Covey, “Do the first thing first.” Focus on what will make you a better, smarter person.
“If you have everything under control, you are not moving fast enough.”– Mario Andretti, Race Car Driver
If you have everything under control in your life, it means you are not moving fast enough. It means you are not taking calculated risks. It means you are playing it too safe. It is okay to play it safe, but know when to say, ‘enough is enough.’ If you want to take risks, make sure that the risks are worth taking. Make sure they are going to help you become a better person. Don’t take risks because people pressured you to do so. Take risks because you know is the right thing to do. Remember to look before you jump. Don’t jump before you look.
Failure is Inevitable.
“Failure is inevitable, make it a strength.”- J.K. Rowling
Failure is a part of life. It is a part of the game of life. If you want to move forward, if you want to learn, if you want to be a better person, you MUST embrace failure. It is okay to failure, but don’t make it a habit. If you fail at something, don’t beat yourself up. Listen to yourself. Learn from failure, and move on. Michael Jordan said, “I can accept failure, everyone fail at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” Failure is not a crime, not trying is. If you want to be better than you are today, don’t let the fear of failure stops you from pursuing your purpose in life.
