“There is no change without growth.” Bright

“I am tomorrow, or some future day, what I established today. I am today what I established yesterday or some previous day.”- James Joyce, novelist

“Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced.”– John Keat, poet

“Great things are done when men and mountains meet.”– William Blake, poet

It takes more time to explain your excuses than it takes to actually do something. If you want to succeed, excuses should be eliminated from your head, from your dictionary, and from your life. If you keep making excuses for not taking action, you are delaying your success.

You are delaying your growth and development. You are holding yourself back. The only cure to excuses is action. Take action. Stop making excuses.

Excuses will make you happy and comfortable for a day, but the consequences are more than the short term happiness and comfort you get from not acting on your dreams.

People who are successful today are not smarter than you do; they just act on their dreams. They faced fear and manage it well. Why are people not taking action to change their situation? People don’t take action to change their lives for many reasons. Here are some of them:

  1. They are scared of the unknown
  2. They want to be perfect before they start
  3. They want to have the right education before they start
  4. They want to have the right amount of money before they start
  5. They want to be in the right environment before they start
  6. They don’t want to start now, because they have medical issue.
  7. So many people are doing what I want to do
  8. It has never be done before
  9. It is not going to do well
  10. I am waiting for the right business partner or partners
  11. I need a beautiful office before I start.
  12. I don’t have time. I am too busy with family issues.
  13. I need a graduate degree before I start
  14. English is not my first language
  15. My spouse is not supporting me. They are just excuses!

These are some of the reasons people wander through life. Stop making them. They are just excuses, nothing else. You can change your life if you want to. You can do it by taking action. If you don’t change your life, no one will do it for you. You are the master of your own life. If you want to take actions to correct things, here is how you can go about it:

  • Know who you are. Know what is important to you. Know your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Assess yourself for talents, skills that you need to get the job done
  • Break the things down into smaller portions that you can manage.
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Reach out to people who have done it before. Ask great questions to find out how they did it. Make sure you find your own voice. If not, you are just imitating someone else’s style.
  • Be disciplined. It takes discipline to get things done.

6 Important Ways To Become The Person You Want To be

One can’t be successful without first knowing who one is. Life will be much more easier for you if you know who you are, what you want, where you are going, and how to get there. You cannot achieve anything of value if you are not functioning at your highest level. You cannot achieve anything great if you are just passing time. If you pass time, time will pass you.

If you want to become the person that you have always wanted to be, you MUST master yourself. You must master your life. Here are some additional steps to take if you are to become who you want to be:

Be Yourself.

“Remember to always be yourself. Unless you suck.”– Joss Whedon, American producer

The first thing to do if you want to become who you want to be is to be yourself. Yourself, but nothing else. If you are not yourself, who are you? To be yourself, you MUST believe in yourself, trust yourself, love yourself, accept yourself, think for yourself, and celebrate yourself. Don’t compete with others; cooperate with others. If even you want to compete, let it be against yourself. Remember to always be yourself if you want to succeed.

Always prepare.

“Dig your well before you’re thirsty.“- Harvey Mackay

There is power in preparation. Always prepare yourself to succeed. Don’t underestimate anything. Always prepare yourself to seize anything opportunity. Don’t wait for people to tell you what to do. Do it before they even have the chance to tell you anything. The secret to success is preparation, preparation, preparation.

Don’t Resist Change.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them- that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally toward in whatever way they like.”- Lao Tzu

Change is important to your growth and development. Don’t resist change. Allow things to flow. Allow things to happen the way it ought to be, not the way you want it to be. Change is a way to learn, to understand yourself, to know others, to think in different ways, to get out of comfort zone. If you don’t understand why change is been proposed, don’t resist it. Find a way to understand why the change is been proposed. Change is not funny, so is status quo. If you want your life to change, embrace change. Don’t resist it. In the words of JIm Rohn, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”

Discipline Yourself.

“It is the small disciplines that lead to great accomplishments.”- Jim Rohn

There is no success without discipline. If you want to become who you want to be, you must discipline yourself. Do the things that are important to you. Don’t spend your time on things that are not getting you any closer to your dreams. For example, if you have an important project to work on, instead of watching the TV, spend time on your project. You can watch your TV later. In other words, according Stephen Covey, “Do the first thing first.” Focus on what will make you a better, smarter person.

Take Risks.

“If you have everything under control, you are not moving fast enough.”– Mario Andretti, Race Car Driver

If you have everything under control in your life, it means you are not moving fast enough. It means you are not taking calculated risks. It means you are playing it too safe. It is okay to play it safe, but know when to say, ‘enough is enough.’ If you want to take risks, make sure that the risks are worth taking. Make sure they are going to help you become a better person. Don’t take risks because people pressured you to do so. Take risks because you know is the right thing to do. Remember to look before you jump. Don’t jump before you look.

Failure is Inevitable.

“Failure is inevitable, make it a strength.”- J.K. Rowling

Failure is a part of life. It is a part of the game of life. If you want to move forward, if you want to learn, if you want to be a better person, you MUST embrace failure. It is okay to failure, but don’t make it a habit. If you fail at something, don’t beat yourself up. Listen to yourself. Learn from failure, and move on. Michael Jordan said, “I can accept failure, everyone fail at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” Failure is not a crime, not trying is. If you want to be better than you are today, don’t let the fear of failure stops you from pursuing your purpose in life.
