Success starts with taking responsibility for our actions. Successful people take responsibility for their actions. They don’t blame people. They blame themselves. So, if you want to change things that are not working for you, if you want to really fix the mess that you have created in your life, take responsibility. Hold yourself accountable for what you have done to yourself and the people around you.

There is power in taking responsibility for your actions. It gives you control over your life. But if you blame other people for what you have done to yourself, you are giving your power away. You are telling them ‘to control you.’ You are telling them to help you fix your problems. Look, if they manage to help you, who do you think will be the master? To be your own master, to control your life, take responsibility to fix your own mess. Don’t give the key to your life to anyone. No matter what, hold on to it.

Let us see what Pat Summitt says about the art of taking responsibility:

Accountability is the essential to personal growth, as well as team growth. How can you improve if you are never wrong? If you don’t admit a mistake and take responsibility for it, you are bound to make the same mistake again.”- Pat Summitt, coach

To grow in life, in your career, in your relationships with good people, you MUST learn how to say, “I am sorry.” This is the issue with lots of people, including myself. If you make a mistake, admit it. Don’t try to defend yourself. If you do, you are making the situation worse for yourself, because the person you are dealing with is not going to be happy with you. In order to avoid that, you must be very good at admitting a mistake. That is the only way out of trouble. It is not easy to do. Learn how to say ‘you are sorry.’ Practice it. Make it a habit, and you will overcome it.

“If you don’t want responsibility, don’t sit in the big chair. To be successful, you must accept full responsibility.”- Pat Summitt, coach

If you want to achieve success in life, you MUST learn how to take responsibility. No one will take it for you. Responsibility is holding yourself accountable for your failures and successes. It means you are responsibility for your life. It means you are answerable to yourself. It means you are the one who is in control of your life. If you want to do great things, learn how to take responsibility.

“Responsibility equals accountability equals ownership. And a sense of ownership is the most powerful weapon a team or organization can have.”- Pat Summitt, coach

When you take responsibility for your actions, it means you are the OWNER of your life. It means you are in control of your life. It means you are the one driving your life. It means you are ready to take the rough rough road to success. A sense of ownership is what you need to succeed in life. Whatever you do, own it.

Live your life

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach our eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

You are here on earth for a reason. So, make that reason a reality. Your purpose here on earth is to live your life, accomplish your dreams, to live a powerful legacy behind. It is not to waste your time, not to pursue other people’s dreams. You are here to be happy, not to be unhappy. Though you cannot avoid both emotions. They are real.

To know whether you are living your life or not, ask yourself, “Am really living my life or not?”

To live your life does not have to be all about MONEY. No, not about money. It is ALL about taking care of yourself, that means knowing what you want, who you are, loving yourself, staying true to yourself, and loving other people. You cannot love yourself without loving other people. But it is safe to love yourself first. If you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others. It is when you love yourself abundantly then you can extend that love to others. The real thing is that it has to be a genuine love.

People don’t live their lives enough because they live in fear. They fear everything: they fear people, they fear success, they fear what people are thinking about them, they fear hanging out with people (hopefully the right people), just write a few.

To really live your life, as I mentioned before, it is not about money. It is about YOU- your values. It is about acknowledging the things around you (both positive and negative). It is about embracing change and coping well with new things and with new situations. You cannot enjoy your life without embracing change. Change is the only thing that is constant. Whether you know it or not, we are changing every day.

To live your life also means you must see challenges as ways for you to test yourself, and to know yourself better. Do not see challenges as problems. If you do, you cannot enjoy your life.
