Successful people know what unsuccessful people don’t know.

In the words of Colin Powell, “There are no secrets to success. It is a result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”

Success is not about material possessions. Success is about you and how you conduct yourself. How you do your daily business. What is success to you is not success to the next guy.

Success comes to those who attract it. If you attract success, if you do the right things, if you work hard, success will visit you, too.

The question here is: “Why are some people successful?”

“Why are others not so successful?” What are the secrets?

Is there any secret to success? If there is, how can we find it?

What is it that the successful people know that the rest of us are missing? What did they do that made them super successful?

Are they doing what the rest of us are doing? Or,

Are they doing something differently that the rest of us are not paying attention to?

Let us look at some of the things that successful people are doing right that the rest of us are missing.

Successful people are courageous.

Successful people are courageous people. They are scared of the unknown, but they never stop pursuing their dreams. They don’t allow fear to stop them from achieving their dreams. They know that without courage, nothing will happen. They look fear in the eye and keep going. They never stop moving.

“Without courage, wisdom bears no fruit.”- Baltasar Gracian

Successful people embrace mistakes.

Successful people know that without mistakes they are not going anywhere. When you make mistakes, it shows you are learning. It shows you are progressing. It shows you are doing the right thing. Don’t be scared to make mistakes. It is part of your journey to success. Embrace it. Learn from it. Move on.

“To make no mistakes is not in the power of man; but from their errors and mistakes the wise and good learn wisdom for the future.”– Plutarch, Greek Roman biographer

Successful people know what they want.

Successful people know what they want and how to get it. It is easier to succeed if you know what you want. If you know what you want to achieve in life, it is easier for you to go about achieving it. But if you don’t know, you won’t know how to get it. Know what you want, assess the situation, plan, take action, and measure your progress. If you don’t like your results, change what you are doing.

“If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.”– Seneca The Younger

Successful people trust themselves.

Successful people trust themselves, even when they don’t know what they are doing. They believe in themselves. They believe in what they are doing. Success starts with self-belief. If you want to be successful, YOU MUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Self-belief gives you courage, confidence, hope, and determination to pursue your dream. You must believe in yourself if you are to succeed. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one will believe in you. No matter what you are going through, don’t make excuses, just believe in yourself, and you will be a victor.

“Trust in what you do, continue to do it, and it will take you where you need to go.”- Natalie Goldberg, Zen practitioner

To be successful, you must do the right thing. You must work hard and smart. You must look fear in the eye and say, “I am a winner.”

So shall it be!

How To Move From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be

Do you know where you want to be? Do you know how to get there? Are you ready to start moving (if you are not already moving)?

Before you make any move to change your life, to change your career, to change your relationships with people, you MUST know why you are doing it. You must know why you are making the change that you are making. You must know where you are going to and how to get there.

It is important to know where you are going to, because if you don’t know where you are going to, people will not know how to follow you. In order to that, you must prepare. You must be ready to go all the way to the end. It is one thing to know where you are going, and it is another to go all the way to the end without giving up. John Pierport said, “The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.” It is okay to stay where you are if you have nothing to lose. But if you have something important to lose, like time and growth, it is not okay to stay where you are.

If you want to grow in life, staying in the same place is not the answer. Unless you are getting what you want. Unless you are happy to stay there forever. If not, you must keep asking the right questions. You must keep going. You must not be satisfied with the status quo. If you do, you will have yourself to blame.

Once you have made the decision to change your situation, do not give up. It is not going to be easy, but you can do it. Don’t listen to people who are not supporting your journey. You are going to be questioning yourself, but keep going. You are going to be doubting yourself, but keep going. Focus on the results. Focus on what you will get when you finally made it to the finish line. In other words, focus on the rewards.

You can do it if you believe you can. You can’t do it if you believe you can’t. I believe you can, and you will.

6 Important Ways To Become The Person You Want To be

One can’t be successful without first knowing who one is. Life will be much more easier for you if you know who you are, what you want, where you are going, and how to get there. You cannot achieve anything of value if you are not functioning at your highest level. You cannot achieve anything great if you are just passing time. If you pass time, time will pass you.

If you want to become the person that you have always wanted to be, you MUST master yourself. You must master your life. Here are some additional steps to take if you are to become who you want to be:

Be Yourself.

“Remember to always be yourself. Unless you suck.”– Joss Whedon, American producer

The first thing to do if you want to become who you want to be is to be yourself. Yourself, but nothing else. If you are not yourself, who are you? To be yourself, you MUST believe in yourself, trust yourself, love yourself, accept yourself, think for yourself, and celebrate yourself. Don’t compete with others; cooperate with others. If even you want to compete, let it be against yourself. Remember to always be yourself if you want to succeed.

Always prepare.

“Dig your well before you’re thirsty.“- Harvey Mackay

There is power in preparation. Always prepare yourself to succeed. Don’t underestimate anything. Always prepare yourself to seize anything opportunity. Don’t wait for people to tell you what to do. Do it before they even have the chance to tell you anything. The secret to success is preparation, preparation, preparation.

Don’t Resist Change.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them- that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally toward in whatever way they like.”- Lao Tzu

Change is important to your growth and development. Don’t resist change. Allow things to flow. Allow things to happen the way it ought to be, not the way you want it to be. Change is a way to learn, to understand yourself, to know others, to think in different ways, to get out of comfort zone. If you don’t understand why change is been proposed, don’t resist it. Find a way to understand why the change is been proposed. Change is not funny, so is status quo. If you want your life to change, embrace change. Don’t resist it. In the words of JIm Rohn, “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”

Discipline Yourself.

“It is the small disciplines that lead to great accomplishments.”- Jim Rohn

There is no success without discipline. If you want to become who you want to be, you must discipline yourself. Do the things that are important to you. Don’t spend your time on things that are not getting you any closer to your dreams. For example, if you have an important project to work on, instead of watching the TV, spend time on your project. You can watch your TV later. In other words, according Stephen Covey, “Do the first thing first.” Focus on what will make you a better, smarter person.

Take Risks.

“If you have everything under control, you are not moving fast enough.”– Mario Andretti, Race Car Driver

If you have everything under control in your life, it means you are not moving fast enough. It means you are not taking calculated risks. It means you are playing it too safe. It is okay to play it safe, but know when to say, ‘enough is enough.’ If you want to take risks, make sure that the risks are worth taking. Make sure they are going to help you become a better person. Don’t take risks because people pressured you to do so. Take risks because you know is the right thing to do. Remember to look before you jump. Don’t jump before you look.

Failure is Inevitable.

“Failure is inevitable, make it a strength.”- J.K. Rowling

Failure is a part of life. It is a part of the game of life. If you want to move forward, if you want to learn, if you want to be a better person, you MUST embrace failure. It is okay to failure, but don’t make it a habit. If you fail at something, don’t beat yourself up. Listen to yourself. Learn from failure, and move on. Michael Jordan said, “I can accept failure, everyone fail at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” Failure is not a crime, not trying is. If you want to be better than you are today, don’t let the fear of failure stops you from pursuing your purpose in life.

5 Reasons Why You Should Not Take Failure Personal

Successful people know how to fail, and they are comfortable with failure. They don’t see failure as the end of the road. They see failure as the beginning of the journey. Failure is not really failure; it is a temporary stop. J. K. Rowling says, “Failure is inevitable, make it a strength.”

When you fail at something, don’t take it as the end of the road for you. Take it as the beginning of the road. Take it as a strength, according to Rowling. You should not take failure personal. It is a way of life. If you want to succeed, you must be comfortable with failure. Successful people know this well.

Do not take failure personal for the following reasons:

1) Failure is a part of life. You cannot succeed in life without failing first. If you want to be successful, you must be comfortable with failure. You must embrace failure. You must see failure as a step forward, not a final stop. As Dell Crossword put it, “Success is not permanent, neither is failure.”

2) You fail to succeed. Failure means growth. It means you are trying to get things done. It means you are experimenting. It means you are taking risks. It means you are not comfortable in your comfort zone. When you fail, don’t beat yourself up. Take it as a way forward. Celebrate it. Embrace it. Peter Drucker said, “Wherever there is success, there has to be failure.” Failure and success are inseparable. You cannot succeed without first making lots of mistakes. It is acceptable, but don’t make it a habit.

3) Failure shows you the right way forward. When you fail at something, it means you are making progress. Failure is not failure; it is your teacher. Failure teaches you the way forward. It teaches you to work harder. It forces you to take a different direction. It forces you to think differently. If you want to succeed, failure is the way.

4) Failure makes you stronger. Success is built on failure. Failure is what we don’t like to talk about, because we don’t celebrate failure; we celebrate success. Failure makes you stronger, not weaker. It shows you your strengths and weaknesses. Remember, failure is not permanent. Don’t make it permanent.

5) Failure is not permanent. Failure is not permanent. It is a temporary defeat. Marilyn Von Savan said, “Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.” If you give up, it becomes permanent. But if you keep trying, regardless of the results, you will succeed.

Finally, failure is when you stop pursuing your dreams. If you continue to pursue your dreams, regardless of how many times you have failed, you are not a failure. It just makes you a stronger person. C. S. Lewis said, “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.
