Self-enlightenment is a process. It is a spiritual journey, not a physical journey. If you want to enlighten yourself, you must prepare yourself to receive the blessing that comes with it.
Wisdom is when you know other people. Enlightenment is when you take the time to know yourself. It takes courage to face ourselves. But if you don’t have the courage to look yourself in the mirror, how can you change your life?
Here are six simple ways to enlighten yourself:
Don’t try to change who you really are. Trying to change yourself is not enlightenment. Because self-enlightenment is not about change, is not about happiness. It is about revealing your real self to you. It is about living your real life.
Enlightenment is not about change; it is about reality. Jiddu Krishnamurti said, “If you begin to understand what you are without trying to change it, then what you are undergoes a transformation.” Don’t try to change yourself, try to understand yourself. When you understand yourself, you will know where you need to improve. You are who you are. Don’t try to change who you are.
To find light, embrace darkness. Whatever you are going through right now, it is not the end of your life. If you look carefully into it, you will find your hidden treasure. You will find that opportunity you have been looking for.
When you face a difficult situation, don’t focus on the problem, focus on what you will take away from the situation. If you want to solve a problem, first understand it. If you understand a problem, you can solve it.
If you don’t understand a problem, you can’t really do anything about it. There is wisdom in understanding. According to Meister Eckhart, “Truly, it is in the darkness that one finds the light, so when we are in sorrow, then this light is nearest of all to us.” When you are going through anything, focus on the light, not the darkness.
Don’t be scared to pay the price of making a mistake. If you don’t make a mistake, then you are playing it too safe. Mistakes are part of our lives, don’t be scared to make them. According to Meister Eckhart, “The price of inaction is far greater than the cost of making a mistake.” If you are scared of making a mistake, know this: “The more mistakes you make, the closer you are to your dreams.” You are unique. So to do great things, you must embrace your uniqueness. But you can’t do that if you are scared of making a mistake. To do that, don’t be scared to pay the price of making a mistake.
You must let go of the things that are hurting you. If you want peace, don’t encourage violence. You can’t be the king of violence and peace at the same time. If you want to stand for something, stand for peace. Because peace is love. Peace is life.
Peace doesn’t hurt. It cures. It heals. Whatever is hurting you, let it go. Learn to practice the art of letting go. If you let bad things out, good things will come into your life. For that to happen, you must make a room for what you want.
If your relationship is hurting you, let it go. Relationship is a blessing, not a curse. If yours is a curse, let it go.
If your car is hurting you, change it. Or let it go completely. If you feel good without a car, do it. Don’t worry about people’s thoughts. Worry about yourself.
If your job is hurting you, improve yourself. Because if you improve yourself, your life will change. Before you change your job, make sure you have another one.
If you are hurting yourself, change your thoughts. Because you can control what you think about.
Remember, enlightenment is not about change; it is about reality. You can do it. Start now!
