What is healing?

According to Ernest Holmes, “To heal means to make whole…. Healing is the result of clear thinking and logical reasoning, which presents itself to consciousness and is acted upon by it.”

Healing is difficult if we keep negative thoughts in our minds. Healing takes place in your mind. It does not happen in your doctor’s office, in your therapist’s office. It takes place in your mind.

You have the power to heal yourself. You can do that by changing how you see the things around you. You can heal yourself by changing your thoughts about your life. You can heal yourself by letting go of the past. You can heal yourself by focusing on the positive things in your life. You can heal yourself by staying away from negative people, meaning people who are not adding value to your life. You can heal yourself by being true to yourself. Don’t lie to yourself. Be honest with what you are going through in your life. You can heal yourself by embracing your problems as part of life.

Fancy homes are good, but they cannot change how you see yourself and the things around you. Fancy cars cannot make you whole. Only true healing can do just that. You can heal yourself. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You have the power to heal yourself. You can do that by believing in yourself, by blessing your life, by letting go of bad feelings, by focusing on what you can change, by acknowledging that it is okay to be imperfect.

You cannot heal yourself by ignoring your problems. Problems are part of who we are. Vacation cannot solve your problems. The ONLY thing that can heal you is when you have the courage to change your mind about who you are. Don’t question who you are. You are unique, and there is no one like you. According to Dr. Robert Holden, “healing is not about changing your address; healing is about changing your mind about yourself- that is, giving up your self-judgments.”

Know this: when you judge yourself, when you criticize yourself, when you blame yourself, when you put yourself under pressure, you are not helping yourself, you are harming yourself. You are not doing yourself any good. If you want to have peace of mind, you must learn to appreciate yourself, not to judge yourself. Stop judging yourself, and start living your life.
