A real change happens when you take responsibility for your actions. A real change will not happen if you keep blaming others for your problems, or for your situations. Don’t waste your time blaming others- the government, your teachers, your parents, your friends- they are not the cause of your problems- you are the cause of your problems. In the words of James Allen, “Every man is a builder of himself.” You can build yourself if you take responsibility for your actions. You can destroy yourself by blaming others for your problems. Remember, until you take responsibility for your actions, nothing will happen, no real change will happen.
If you want to change your life, you can do it. It is within your power. It is within your reach. If you want to destroy your life, your future, you can do it. It is also within your control. You can create negative changes in your life. You can create positive changes in your life. It is your decision to choose one of the above options. If you were to choose, which will you go for? A negative change, or a positive change? One will keep you where you are. Another will take you to the next level. You decide!
People are where they are because they don’t want to take responsibility for their actions. If you take responsibility and embrace change, your situation will change. The good news is: There are many ways to change. How do we change?
How to Change
Here are some ways to change:
Change your thoughts: You become what you always think about. If you always think about negative things, you will get negative results. If you always think about positive thoughts, you will get positive results. In order to be a healthy person, your brain and your mind need positive thoughts. If you are a positive person, people want to be with you; they want to work with you.
Change your associations: when you change the people with whom you do everything, and nothing to show for it, your life will change- in positive directions. If you stick with the same unproductive people, your life will be the same- nothing new will happen.
Discipline yourself: If you say you want to do something, regardless of the situation, find a way to do it. Don’t give in to procrastination. Procrastination is a life blood sucker.
Don’t blame others, blame yourself: Knowing that you are the designer of your situation is the first step toward personal and professional growth. Own it!
Have a clear purpose: If you have something to live for, it is easier to change. If you don’t have any reason to wake up everyday, change becomes a distraction.
Focus on what matters: Focus on what will help you be a better person, a better spouse, a better boss, a better leader, and/or a better friend. Don’t waste your time doing what will keep you where you are, do things that will carry you forward, not take you backward.
Be a positive thinker: Positive thinkers see opportunities in every terrible situation. They don’t see darkness; they see the bright side in every situation. When you think positively about things (good or bad things), you will attract positive things into your life.
Have a mentor: A mentor will act as your teacher during the process of change. You should find a mentor who understands what your plans are.
I have been talking about how to change. It time to look at some reasons why people don’t want to change.
Why people don’t want to change
Here are some:

They are negative thinkers: Negative thoughts don’t yield anything good; they produce negative outcomes. Negative thinkers don’t see light in life; all they see are negative things. Think positively about life, and you will enjoy your life. You will enjoy the beauty of life. Life is beautiful!
They feed negative habits: People don’t want to change because they feed negative habits. They stick to behaviors that have not been working for them. If you want to move forward, it is time to start doing what works, not what doesn’t work. Change habits that have not been working for you. For example, if you have been procrastinating, stop it and take REAL actions to change that.
They enjoy their comfort zones: When you stay in your comfort zone, nothing moves. When you change, things will change. If you don’t change, nothing will change. People don’t change because they love their comfort zones. They are okay doing the same thing over and over again. When you stay in your comfort zone, you are comfortable, but you are not growing. We are in life to grow, not to stay the same. If you stay the same, you are not growing.
They are afraid of change: People are afraid to change their situations. People are afraid of change, because they are insecure. People who are secure are not afraid to change. They embrace change. Change should be your friend, not your enemy. Change is here to stay. Find a way to be comfortable with change. Everything is changing.
They are small thinkers: People find if difficult to change, because they focus on small things. When people focus on the little things, they will find it difficult to think big. They will find it difficult to break into the world of higher opportunities. If you want to be a thinker, be a big thinker.
They are great procrastinators: They don’t understand the importance of time. They keep postponing things to tomorrow. They enjoy postponing things to the next day. Procrastinators never achieve anything of great recognition. Instead, they talk the talk, but fail to walk the walk.
They don’t see reality: They believe what they are doing is always right. They paint a different picture of their situations. The problem with this kind of behavior is, “they can’t handle the storm when it hits.
Everything is changing. If you want to enjoy your life, your job, you should find a way to embrace change.
