What is the art of starting small? It means having the courage to start something, regardless of your situation. If you want to start your own business, start with the resources you have. Don’t wait till you have enough resources to start, because you will never have enough.
Don’t wait for the perfect time to start something. The perfect time will never come. Go ahead and start. You will get better at it once you are in it. But you will never get better if you don’t start.

Respect goes both ways. If you respect people, people will respect you back. It is like paying your debt. When banks borrow you money, you pay them back. If not, you have lost the respect they have for you. If you borrow money from the bank, and you pay them back, you have earned their respect.
For business owners, managers, it is important for you guys to love and respect your people. They are all you have. Without great workers, you have no business. When you are nice to them, they will be nice to you, they will be nice to your customers.
Treat people with respect; they will treat you with respect.

You can change who is ready for a change, not who is not ready. When your people are ready for a change, change becomes easier to do. But when they are not ready, don’t do it. If you do, you are setting yourself up for a massive failure.
Make sure your people are part of the process. Consult with your people before you bring in any external consultant. Change starts inside.
Change is a process. Process matters. If you cannot change yourself, don’t even think of changing anyone. The biggest mistake people make is trying to change who is not ready for a change. We don’t care to ask the person we are trying to change whether they are ready for it. We just go ahead and do it. We think they are ready, they are not. Change yourself first. Change starts with you. Look inside before looking outside. Change yourself before you think of changing others. According to Henry David Thoreau,”Things do not change, we change.”
For managers, before any change initiatives, make sure that your people are part of the design. If not, you are preparing yourself for failure. People respect what they are part of. People take care of what they help in building.
People change because they want to change, not because you asked them to change. Change is personal. People will change when you show them what change really means. You do that by doing what you say you will do. Don’t say one thing and do another. Say one thing and do REALLY one thing. Show your people why you think change is important. Explain to them what would happen when they don’t want to change.
