4 Ways To Unleash Your Hidden Talent

Woman Standing in Front of Sitting People

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson

“I really believe that everyone has a talent, ability, or skill that he can mine to support himself and to succeed in life.”- Dean Koontz, writer

What does it really mean to be a talented person? To be a talented person means you have to unleash your hidden talent. Your hidden talent is your ability to do things that you haven’t put to a good use. You have to put your talents to use. But you cannot release your talent without first meeting certain criteria. Let’s look at the criteria:

You need the right environment

No seed can prosper in a terrible place. The same principle applies to human beings. It applies to you. It applies to me. It applies to your workplace. If you have all the talents in the world, you need a great environment to use them. You need a great workplace to put them to use. If not, they are not yours. If your workplace is not supporting your talents, no matter how hard you try, you will remain unsatisfied. You cannot grow. Your talents will start to disappear. If you don’t use your talents, you will lose them. Nobody can prosper without the right support. You need the right environment to grow. According to C. Clement Stone, “Be careful, the environment you choose for it will shape you, be careful the friends you choose for you will become like them.”

Cultivate your talent

To cultivate your talent means you have to feed your talent with the good food that your talent needs to grow. Give your talent the right things to work on. Find the job where you can put your talent to full use. If you don’t grow your talent, your talent will die. Anthony Jay said, “Men grow to the stature to which they are stretched when they are young.” To add that: “You can grow your talent, even when you are old.”

Protect your talent

If you don’t want to loose your talent, protect it from dream killers. They are everywhere. They are the first to tell you what you cannot do. They see only bad things in people. In their world, positive do not exist. It takes a long time to develop a great talent. Protect your skills, protect your talents from the little people. Little people are dream killers. They have small mindset. Protect your talent from yourself. You can kill your own dreams by doing what is against your growth. Pablo Picasso said, “I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”

Share your talent

Share your talents by giving some to those that REALLY need them. You can share your talents by teaching what you know to others. It is a win-win strategy. You can also share your talents by doing great jobs. You can share your talents by being a mentor to someone. Maya Angelou said, “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” It is good to share. When you share things with people, you are not helping them, you are helping yourself. Yes, yourself!
