How Your Thoughts Construct Your Character

You build or destroy your character with your own thoughts. You build a great character when you think positively about yourself, when you think positively about others, when you allow positive thoughts into your mind, and when you remove negative thoughts from your mind.

“You are what you think about.”

You are what you think about.”

You build a negative character when you fill your mind with negative thoughts, and when you engage yourself in self-defeating actions.

“Negative thoughts lead to negative actions.”

“Positive thoughts lead to positive actions.”

Negative actions can destroy you. They can set you back. They can destroy your health and well-being. They can prevent you from enjoying your life.

Positive thoughts, on the other hand, are what the mind is looking for. The mind wants positive thoughts. Positive thoughts are like glucose to the mind.  Positive thoughts give you wealth in abundance. They heal your body, and attract positive people to you.

According to James Allen, “Thought and character are one, and as character can only manifest and discover itself through environment and circumstances, the outer conditions of a person’s life will always be found to be harmoniously related to his inner state .”

You cannot separate your actions from your thoughts. If you think positively, you will attract positive things, you will attract positive people, you will attract a positive partner. But if you think in negative ways, you will attract negative things into your life, you will invite moaners into your life, you will attract complainers into your life, you will invite sickness into your life.

Why great character?

You have a great character when you:

  • When you treat people with respect
  • When you treat yourself with respect
  • When you present yourself in a positive way
  • When you handle conflict in a productive way
  • When you handle mistakes in productive ways
  • When you make the right choices
  • When you use your power to prosper people, not to degrade them
  • When you take responsibility of your own actions
  • When you discipline yourself

You are your character. Your character is you.”

Let’s conclude by quoting the great Abraham Lincoln: “Character is like a tree and reputation its shadow, the shadow is what we think it is and the tree is the real thing.”
